IMF: Serbia's GDP growth higher than predicted

At the end of their visit to Belgrade for the first consideration of a new arrangement, they also indicated that structural reforms should be accelerated, Beta agency reported.

The full implementation of the program of structural reforms will have additional positive effects on the growth potential, reads the statement of IMF Mission chief James Roaf.

They will discuss the results of the new macroeconomic and structural reforms, supported by the PCI-Policy Coordination Instrument, the Serbian government has announced.

The Serbian delegation is led by NBS Governor Jorgovanka Tabakovic, who also represents Serbia at the IMF, and includes representatives of the ministries of finance and economy.

Serbia exits the program "boasting outperformance on several of its goals" - however, "concluding it with flying colors is only the first step in building a strong and vibrant economy able to compete globally," the IMF said.

"The program has done much better than expected, overperforming many of its macroeconomic goals," said head of IMF's Serbia team James Roaf.

IMF: Strong economic progress continuing

BELGRADE - Serbia has done serious work in implementing its arrangement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and IMF mission head James Roaf noted at a meeting Tuesday.

Vucic expressed the hope the financial institution would remain in Serbia after the conclusion of the three-year arrangement.
