'Presentation Room' opens today at Pilevneli Gallery in Dolapdere

Starting today, Istanbul's Pilevneli Gallery presents its selection of works, titled "Presentation Room - I," through Feb. 19, 2021.

The display was shaped by the gallery's selection of works planned for Contemporary Istanbul, the physical edition of which was postponed to 2021.

‘Jiggling penis’ controversy defeats Jan Fabre!

Belgian stage director and artists Jan Fabre has resigned as Athens & Epidaurus Festival Director after the uproar caused by his decision to stage the ‘Mount Olympus’ performance featuring nude men jiggling their penises on stage and totally exclude all domestic talent or productions in the schedule of plays lined up for the Festival and opt for Belgian-only productions.

Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports has appointed Belgian artist Jan Fabre director of the annual Athens & Epidaurus Festival for the 2016 – 2019 period and Greek artists expressed outrage as Fabre unveiled his plans for the following four years of the festival at a press conference held at Acropolis Museum in Athens.

Jan Fabre to be Athens & Epidaurus Festival director

Renowned  Belgian multidisciplinary artist, stage director and choreographer Jan Fabre has been chosen as artistic director of the annual Athens and Epidaurus Festival, Culture Minister Aristidis Baltas announced.

His proposals concerning the festival will be announced at a joint press conference during his forthcoming visit to Athens.

An innovative 24-hour performance, titled “Mount Olympus”, will be the highlight of the Dimitria Festival at the Thessaloniki Music Hall on October 10, the largest cultural event in northern Greece. The work is by blind Belgian artist Jan Fabre and takes a modern look at ancient tragedy using 28 performers.

ArtInternational in Istanbul breaks sales record

Contemporary art fair ArtInternational, which kicked off at the Haliç Congress Center on Sept. 4, ended on Sept. 6 after registering a record-breaking set of sales. More than 30,000 people visited the fair over the three days. 

More than 2,000 collectors and art traders visited the fair, bringing in a record-smashing total sales value of $30.2 million. 

Warhol, Miro, Banksy at Istanbul art fair

Works by world-famous artists will be showcased at the ArtInternational fair to be held between Sept. 4 and 6 in Istanbul. 

The third ArtInternational will gather pieces by pop-art icon Andy Warhol, British contemporary artist Grayson Perry, English graffiti artist Banksy, Catalan artist Joan Miro and Belgian multidisciplinary artist Jan Fabre.
