Turkish Cypriots are in favor of "the new policy", a two-state solution, on Cyprus as decades of negotiations for a federation failed to resolve the Cyprus issue, said the president of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

According to Turkish Cypriot presidential sources, Ersin Tatar is expected to meet Jane Holl Lute on Jan. 11 at 14:00 local time.
‘Federation project no longer sustainable,’ says Turkish FM of Cyprus
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Wednesday said that Ankara no longer considers the "federation project" for the reunification of Cyprus as a "sustainable" plan.
In a post on Twitter referring to his meeting with UN special envoy Jane Holl Lute, Cavusoglu said that the "Turkish side promotes two-state settlement based on equal sovereignty."

UN special envoy Jane Holl Lute met separately on Tuesday with the two Cypriot leaders, who said they were open to a possible five-party informal meeting but expressed diametrically opposite views on solving the Cyprus issue.
