First Bulgarian Author Nominated for the “Booker” Award!
"Time Shelter" (Vremeubezhishte) by Georgi Gospodinov has entered the long list of nominations for the most prestigious international award given for a specific literary work, reported "Janet 45" - the Bulgarian publisher of the novel. The book was translated by the American Angela Rodel, who also became part of the nomination for the international "Booker".

The proposal was signed by chairwoman Zdravka Evtimova. Bulgaria's candidacy was sent a few months ago but so far there has been no response from the Swedish Nobel Committee.
Turkey’s Jews meet at historic Ankara synagogue after 40 years
After nearly four decades, Jews in Turkey came together at the Ankara Synagogue to "revive their memories."
Isaak Haleva, the chief rabbi of Turkey's Jews, as well as several members of the Jewish community, joined the event in the capital Ankara.
In a speech on the occasion, Haleva said the preservation of synagogues is important for his community in Turkey.
