Miro’s works come to Greece for first time

Joan Miro, "Woman and Birds," 1969, oil on canvas, on loan from a private collection. An exhibition of works by the great Catalan painter and sculptor, "Miro's Universe" is taking place in Athens for the first time, at the neoclassical building that is the headquarters of the Spanish Cervantes Institute on Skoufa Street in Kolonaki. The exhibition will run through July 27.

ArtInternational in Istanbul breaks sales record

Contemporary art fair ArtInternational, which kicked off at the Haliç Congress Center on Sept. 4, ended on Sept. 6 after registering a record-breaking set of sales. More than 30,000 people visited the fair over the three days. 

More than 2,000 collectors and art traders visited the fair, bringing in a record-smashing total sales value of $30.2 million. 

Warhol, Miro, Banksy at Istanbul art fair

Works by world-famous artists will be showcased at the ArtInternational fair to be held between Sept. 4 and 6 in Istanbul. 

The third ArtInternational will gather pieces by pop-art icon Andy Warhol, British contemporary artist Grayson Perry, English graffiti artist Banksy, Catalan artist Joan Miro and Belgian multidisciplinary artist Jan Fabre.

Miro at play with women, birds, stars in Istanbul show

It is not every artist who could see a woman's hat in a red farmyard faucet, but works on display in Istanbul show the 20th century Catalan painter and sculptor Joan Miro in a playful mood in later life.

"Women, Birds, Stars" at the Sak?p Sabanc? Museum features 125 paintings, prints, sculptures, tapestries and ceramics, including loans from the Miro family's personal collection.
