English singer and actress Jane Birkin, who died on July 16 at age 76, was an icon in her adopted France, catapulted to fame by her turbulent relationship with legendary singer-songwriter Serge Gainsbourg and her heavily accented French, which became her personal style signifier.

British composer Monty Norman, best known for writing the iconic theme music for the James Bond films, died on July 11 at the age of 94, his official website announced.

"It is with sadness we share the news that Monty Norman died on 11th July 2022 after a short illness," read the statement.
Norman was born Monty Noserovitch in east London, to Jewish parents, on April 4, 1928.

On the one hand, we have the enormous strides made in the fields of medicine and technology; on the other, we have mankind's enduring proclivity for procrastination when faced with the relentlessness of nature.
