Bulgaria and Finland will Exchange Students and Teachers

Prime Minister Boyko Borisov talks with his Finnish counterpart, Juha Sipilä, reported NovaTV. 

The two spoke at Helsinki's government residence Kesäranta. The focus of the meeting was on the European perspective of the countries of the Western Balkans, security and border control, education, energy and tourism, the press center of the Council of Ministers announced.

Finland wants EU deals with Iraq and others on migrants

Finland said on Wednesday it would push the European Union to step up efforts to curb illegal migration by negotiating agreements with Iraq, Afghanistan and Somalia.

European leaders are due at a summit on Thursday to discuss results from their recent migration compacts with five African countries - Niger, Nigeria, Mali, Senegal and Ethiopia.

Asylum seekers should work for free, says Finnish gov’t

Finland’s government launched measures to tighten its immigration policy according to which  asylum seekers will be asked to work for free and to acknowledge a “national curriculum” on Finnish culture and society.

The government will also create an information package on Finnish culture and society stressing the rights of women and children.

Finland has emerged as the eurozone’s worst performing economy after contracting 0.6% in the third quarter. The union has been stagnant for the last three years. It’s economic problems are mainly due to a collapse in trade with Russia, highly uncompetitive labor costs and the decline of its successful Nokia.

Merkel to propose Greece partly hands over national control of borders to stem refugees

During a joint press conference with Finland’s Prime Minister Juha Sipila, German Chancellor Angela Merkel urged EU member-states to ‘respect their moral obligation’ and offer their support Greece in guarding her borders from the influx of refugees and migrants.
