Trump to leave town early Wednesday before Biden inauguration

By the time Joe Biden is sworn in as the 46th U.S. president Wednesday, his scandal-tainted predecessor Donald Trump will already be far away, having helicoptered out of the White House a last time earlier that morning, an official said on Jan. 15. 

Trump will be the first president in a century and a half to snub the inauguration of his successor.

US President Donald Trump has been recorded telling Georgia's top election official to "find" enough votes to overturn the election result.

 "I just want to find 11,780 votes," Mr Trump told Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger in a recording released by the Washington Post.

 Mr Raffensperger is heard replying that Georgia's results are correct.

Biden thanks Vartholomeos for congratulatory letter

US President-elect Joe Biden thanked Ecumenical Patriarch Vartholomeos for his letter in which he congratulated him for his election victory in November, the Patriarchate's press office said Saturday.

Biden said he and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris "look forward to a future dialogue," with the Ecumenical Patriarch, adding in a postscript: "We need your leadership."
