Greece's Finance Minister Christos Staikouras will discuss a request for an early repayment of part of the country's outstanding loans to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) during Friday's Eurogroup meeting in Helsinki.
Athens is keen to repay the IMF loan which is more expensive than the yields Greece currently pays in the markets on its bonds.

A package of benefits announced in recent weeks are part of a broader plan and signal that Greece is turning a page following its exit from international bailouts last year, Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos has told the Athens-Macedonia news agency, adding that criticism of the handouts by some foreign officials has been "severe." 

Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader, prime minister and presidential candidate Victor Ponta says there's a 'very clear' resolution to restore the Social Liberal Union of PSD with the Liberals.

This decision justifies the nomination of Calin Popescu-Tariceanu as the future prime minister, Ponta said in Suceava (northeastern Romania) on Friday.

Incumbent Prime Minister Victor Ponta, running for president with the support of the alliance made up with his Social Democrat Party (PSD) - National Union for Romania's Progress - Conservative Party, says many liberals have joined the leader of the new Reformist Liberal Party (PLR) Calin Popescu-Tariceanu.
