Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener have held their first meeting since the May polls, discussing potential cooperation between now-defunct Nation Alliance partners for next year's local elections.

Meral Akşener, a former Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) lawmaker in the preparation stage for a new national political party, has announced that the party will be established by Oct. 15.

This long holiday and vacation period has given time for politicians to re-establish relations with their party base and listen to the masses. Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has been very quiet for the past two weeks, while even President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan opted to stay away from public speeches for at least a couple of days. 

The name of a new political party that is in its foundation stage may be named "Center Democrat Party," according to a former Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) lawmaker.

Koray Aydın has resigned from his position as a deputy of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and has signaled that he will join a new party set to be founded by Meral Akşener, a dissident former MHP member. 

Meral Akşener, an expelled dissident member of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) accelerated her efforts to form a new party as MHP lawmaker Koray Aydın is set to announce that he will join the new party.

"We are working on announcing the new party by late October," Akşener said, responding to reporters' questions on Aug. 20 at a ceremony she attended.

An opposition Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) dissident politician has said the MHP "is our home," signaling that the renegaded group was not considering establishing a new party.  

"The MHP is our home and a mother's bosom. My friends and I don't have a plan B," Koray Aydın said on April 20.
