After enduring a year of institutional uncertainty, Nexo, a prominent global digital asset institution, is seeking justice through a legal claim exceeding USD 3 billion against the Republic of Bulgaria.

Cryptocurrency-based financial services company Nexo has filed a case against Bulgaria in an international arbitration court in the USA, according to investigative website "Bird.bg" This move comes after the Bulgarian prosecutor's office dropped its investigation into Nexo, citing insufficient evidence of a crime.

After an extensive and meticulous investigation, Bulgaria's Prosecutor's Office announced the closure of the high-profile inquiry into the cryptocurrency firm Nexo. The decision, arrived at on December 22, stemmed from the absence of compelling evidence substantiating allegations of money laundering, tax infractions, or illicit financial services provision without proper authorization.

The Prosecutor General Ivan Geshev sent letters to the General Secretariat of the Council of Europe, the European Committee on Crime Problems, the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola about difficulties encountered with the application of the European Convention on the extradition of Bulgarian citizens from Republ

"The founders of Nexo, Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kanchev, do not appear on either the Interpol or Europol lists, as they have not been issued red notices and European arrest warrants." This is what the Nexo company said in a press release.
