Netflix shared exclusive new details for the second season of its runaway hit South Korean thriller series "Squid Game" on June 17, as part of its Tudum Global Fan Event in Brazil.

 Smash hits like "Squid Game" and "Parasite" may make it look easy, but Emmy-winner Lee Jung-jae says South Korean cinema spent years learning how to reach unprecedented global audiences through stories about the competitiveness and violence of modern life.

Dysfunctional family saga "Succession" on Sept. 12 took top honors for best drama at the Emmys, television's biggest night of the year, as "Squid Game" made history when Lee Jung-jae was named best actor, a first for a non-English-language performer.

HBO's "Succession" topped this year's Emmy nominations, earning 25 nods on July 12, as "Squid Game" became the first non-English-language drama series shortlisted for glory for television's equivalent of the Oscars.

In an upset, the deaf family drama "CODA" took top honors at an unpredictable and history-making 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards that also saw wins for the leads of "Squid Game," the cast of "Ted Lasso" and Will Smith.

The creator of Netflix's "Squid Game" says the hit TV series will be back for a season two, even though most TV shows in South Korea run for just one season. Due to the show's global success, Hwang Dong-hyuk said, "I almost feel like you leave us no choice."
