President is now the only boss of Turkey's intelligence agency too

The government extended the powers of the National Intelligence Agency (MİT) and linked it directly to President Tayyip Erdoğan with a new state of emergency decree issued on Aug. 25. The MİT undersecretary (the chief of the agency) previously reported directly to the prime minister, but will now report only to the president.

Turkish biosecurity council allows use of genetically modified soybeans, corn as animal food

Turkey's Biosecurity Council has approved the use of three types of genetically modified soybeans and one type of genetically modified corn as animal food in a decision published in the Official Gazette on Aug. 2, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported. 

Main opposition CHP calls Erdoğan's comments on Kılıçdaroğlu 'a threat'

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) deputy group leader Levent Gök has slammed President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for "threatening" CHP leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu. 

"You will get into a state where you will not be able to step out," Erdoğan had said, referring to Kılıçdaroğlu's "justice march."
