A court in the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir has ordered the arrest of three suspects for the armed assault attempt targeting Eskişehir Mayor Yılmaz Büyükerşen on July 29.

Earlier, five suspects had been referred to court over the attempted attack.

The mayor of the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir, Yılmaz Büyükerşen, escaped an attempted armed assault on July 29, after which he vowed that he would not be discouraged by such incidents. 

Yılmaz Büyükerşen, the mayor of the Central Anatolian province of Eskişehir, on July 29 escaped an attempted armed assault, a statement from his office read. The Eskişehir municipality said in a written statement that a group of shopkeepers drew gun on the mayor and attacked him. It said the attempt failed as locals immediately took cover of Büyükerşen.
