Thousands of health professionals on March 14 convened in several marches and events to mark National Medicine Day, also dubbed as National Doctors' Day, calling for improved working conditions and an end to violence in hospitals.

The Maiden's Tower, one of the symbolic buildings of Istanbul, has been renovated in accordance with the restoration plan carried out during the reign of the Ottoman Sultan Mahmud II, about 200 years ago, Culture and Tourism Ministry Mehmet Nuri Ersoy has announced.

While still recovering from the wounds of the deadly Feb. 6 quakes that claimed thousands of lives and caused massive destruction in unprecedented ways, Türkiye marks March 14 Medicine Day (Doctors' Day) to commemorate frontline doctors, nurses and various health professionals who lost their lives in the quakes.
