The Ukrainian armed forces’ attack on the Russian city of Kursk is becoming a turning point in the two-year-plus war between Russia and Ukraine, potentially disrupting the previously established balance of power on the battlefield.

US media reported on Wednesday that Ukrainian airborne forces had finally deployed their most powerful unit, the 82nd Airborne Brigade, which has been referred to as the "most powerful unit" in the national army. Germany has delivered promised Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine, Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday, providing Kiev with much-needed heavy weaponry against Russia.

"Yes, we delivered Leopard tanks as we announced," Scholz told a press conference with Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte in Rotterdam when asked to confirm a report in news outlet Spiegel.

German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall has offered to sell 88 second-hand Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine. The offer apparently includes training in Germany, spare parts and ammunition, according to documents obtained by the DPA.
