Heavy traffic is expected across Bulgaria on the last working day of the week as thousands of people begin their travels for the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays. The busiest routes are anticipated to be the exits of major cities and highways, particularly with the influx of travelers leaving Sofia and returning at the end of the holiday season.

Since the beginning of 2024, Bulgaria has reported over 5,600 serious traffic accidents, resulting in 356 fatalities and more than 7,000 injuries, according to Commissioner Maria Boteva, the deputy head of the Traffic Police.
Bulgarian Road Agency: Trucks over 12 Tonnes will be Banned from Motorways in Peak Hours
On the last working day before the Easter holidays, trucks of over 12 tonnes will banned from the motorways and busiest roads from 4 pm to 8 pm. The measure aims to increase safety and ease car traffic, the Road Infrastructure Agency said.

From 1st of November, Bulgarian Traffic Police started checks within operation "Winter" which intends to ensure that vehicles are ready for driving in winter conditions.
