Power cut causes day-and-a-half of turmoil on Hydra

The electricity and water supply was finally restored on the Saronic island of Hydra early on Monday afternoon after a day-and-a-half of turmoil for locals and tourists alike. 

A power cut, which occurred in the early hours of Sunday, left thousands of visitors to the island without running water or air conditioning for around 35 hours. 

Hydra mayor: Power and water supply to be restored Monday

Hydra's mayor said he expects the island's water and electricity supply to be restored on Monday afternoon, two days after a power outage brought chaos to the island.

"The water and electricity supply on Hydra island will be fully restored in the afternoon thanks to two temporary solutions," Giorgos Koukoudakis told state-run news agency AMNA.
