EU Suspends Funds For Romania Citing Fraud Concerns
Romania's Minister for European Funds, Marius Nica, on Friday confirmed that the EU has temporarily suspended allocation of about 1 billion euro for Romanian projects because of allegations of corruption and other irregularities.
They were "investigating complaints related to alleged irregularities in some human resources, water supply and subway projects," Nica said.

The European Commission has acknowledged the cumbersome bureaucracy related to European funds and asked the Romanian Ministry for European Funds to adopt simplified cost settlement procedures for certain operational programs, European Funds Minister Marius Nica told AGERPRES in an interview.

Romanian President Appoints New Finance Minister
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis appointed on Monday Eugen Teodorovici as the country's new Finance Minister.
The inauguration ceremony of Teodorovici, who succeeded resigned Darius Valcov, took place at the Cotroceni Palace, AGERPRES news agency reports.
