A Greek Australian constitutional law expert has been named as one of eight new judges of the Federal Court of Australia.

Professor James Stellios' appointment to the court's New South Wales Registry will begin on December 19.

Stellios is currently a professor and head of school at the Australian National University (ANU) Law School.
