Former ministers elected as parliamentary commission heads
Following a voting session in the Turkish parliament, the heads of specialized commissions have been determined, with former ministers taking leadership positions in commissions relevant to their respective fields.
During the general assembly meetings, the commissions convened to select the members of the Presidential Council.
Political parties submit deputy candidate lists to election board
Political parties submitted their parliamentary candidate lists for May 14 polls to the Supreme Election Board (YSK) on April 9.
Exports climbed to $23.6 billion in March
Türkiye's exports showed a 4.4 percent increase in March from a year ago to stand at $23.6 billion, the preliminary data from the Trade Ministry have shown.
This marked an all-time-high March figure in exports, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said.
"We expect the impact from the earthquakes on production and exports to wane further in the coming months," Muş said.

Türkiye central ally to NATO: Portuguese FM

‘Türkiye sets 2023 education service exports target at $2 bln’
Türkiye aims to boost its revenues from education service exports to $2 billion in 2023 by attracting more international students, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş has said.
The target is to increase the number of international students studying in the country from around 260,000 last year to 325,000 in 2023, Muş said, speaking at an event organized by DEİK.
Ministry to probe automotive market
The Trade Ministry has launched a probe into the automotive market to securitize prices and supplies.
Inspectors have been appointed to look into the activities that allegedly aimed at distorting the market for new and second-hand cars, causing bottlenecks and preventing consumers from accessing vehicles, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said on Twitter.

Turkish contractors granted $17.8 bln worth of projects abroad
Turkish contractors were awarded a total of 454 projects worth $17.8 billion in 2022, data from the Trade Industry have shown.
The average size of the projects granted to Turkish companies abroad was $39.2 million.

Hard discount retailer Şok freezes prices on 1,000 items

Şok, one of Türkiye's largest hard discount retailers, will freeze prices on 1,000 items, including staple products such as rice, flour, vegetable oil, sugar and tear, until the end of January.
If other supermarkets follow suit, such a move is likely to have a positive impact on the inflation outlook, according to a consumers' association.
No food supply security problems, says committee
Despite the unfavorable developments globally, there are no risks to food supply security in Türkiye thanks to measures in place, said the Food and Agricultural Products Monitoring and Assessment Committee in a statement on Sept. 14.
