Former four-star general Akın Öztürk has denied any responsibility for events at the Akıncı Air Base, considered the control center of the July 15, 2016 coup attempt, saying the allegations are "unacceptable for his honor." 

Former four-star general Akın Öztürk denied any involvement in a failed July 15, 2016, coup when he appeared before a court on May 22 in a trial against more than 200 soldiers regarding events at the Turkey's General Staff Headquarters on the night of the putsch.
