A Turkish teacher whose actions led to the arrest of a principal for sexually abusing six girls between the ages of six and 11 received the International Women of Courage Award in Washington on March 29. 

Saadet Özkan, a teacher from the western province of İzmir, received her award from U.S. first lady Melania Trump.

The First Lady Melania Trump thanked super model Emily Ratajkowski through her Twitter account for defending her publicly. Earlier Ratajkowski had tweeted her outrage over an incident that had taken place during the weekend. This is what she wrote:

Marinko Umicevic, technical director of Banja Luka's Bema shoe factory, said that he had sent a letter apologizing to Melania Trump because he will not be able to come to her husband's Washington inauguration on January 20 despite receiving an invitation from her.

Four women accused Donald Trump of making unwanted sexual advances on them in reports published Wednesday. The accusations came days after a salacious leaked tape showed Trump bragging in 2005 about groping women under his celebrity status.

With his campaign in crisis, U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump vowed on Oct. 8 to stay in the race despite calls from more than two dozen prominent Republicans for him to drop out following the release of a recording of him making lewd comments about women.

Both Trump's wife and his running mate criticized his words, saying they were insulting and indefensible.
