Turkey's ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) has pledged to take all necessary measures to end the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), after the militant group killed six security officials by detonating an improvised explosive device in Mardin's Nusaybin district on April 2. 

Operations against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) in the southeastern province of Mardin's Nusaybin district are progressing slower than expected because the local governor's office disallowed operation requests in September 2015, delaying the necessary response to a PKK build-up, security officials have said. 

A group of people, including Turkish lawmakers, held a protest on Aug. 3 in southeastern province of Mardin, incensed that 13 members of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG), the armed wing of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), who were killed in Syria during fights with jihadists, were not allowed to enter Turkey.

The 3rd Mardin Biennial, organized by the Mardin Cinema Association, opened on May 17 at the idle Morephrem Monastery in the eastern province of Mardin. This year's biennial theme is "Mythologies." 

During the biennial, 63 artists, 20 of whom are foreign, will display performances in churches, historic mansions and bazaars. 

The Mardin Opera and Ballet Days event, organized by the State Opera and Ballet General Directorate, has opened in the eastern province of Mardin. The Samsun State Opera and Ballet gave a "Symphonic Songs" concert in the opening ceremony.
