Two of the world's most important tourism trade shows have taken place back to back, with ITB Berlin in March and EMITT Istanbul this month bringing together international tourism stakeholders.

With restrictions on travel to Turkey by Russia, United Kingdom and EU member states, the Turkish tourism industry is facing a heavy setback, but Turkish tourism professionals are hopeful to entertain domestic tourists this summer, expecting a record-breaking boom in the domestic market sales.

Beşiktaş was set to sign Chelsea striker Demba Ba after the Senegalese player arrived in Istanbul to pass his medical test July 16.

The 29-year-old striker hailed the supporters with Turkish tweets after arriving in Istanbul.
“Ben geldim!” he wrote in a tweet, meaning “I arrived!”
