Cinematheque to show Marc Recha, Abbas Kiarostami in new season
Ljubljana – The Slovenian Cinematheque is entering a new season with great panache, not just when it comes to its film programme but also in relation to its exhibition venue and publishing and preservation efforts. The pinnacle of the new season will be films by Catalan Spanish filmmaker Marc Recha and Iranian master Abbas Kiarostami.
An endless search for love at Cannes
In our first review we spoke about two films at Cannes this year ("Sea Sorrow" and "Jupiter's Moon") focusing on one of the main themes of this year's festival: The migration crisis. This is only part of the overall crisis in today's Europe, which includes the degeneration of the political and economic system as well as of human values.

Refugee crisis reflected at Cannes Film Festival
One of the main topics at this year's Cannes Film Festival seems to be the migrant issue. We have already seen two pictures on the topic and others will follow, among which one is the highly expected title of the year, Michael Haneke's "Happy End."
World famous actress Vanessa Redgrave arrived in Cannes to present her first film as its director at the age of 80.

Akerman films come to Istanbul Modern
Between March 10 and 20, Istanbul Modern Cinema will present the most comprehensive retrospective ever organized in Turkey of Belgian director Chantal Akerman, a pioneer of experimental and feminist cinema who passed away in October 2015.
The program of 16 films will be organized in collaboration with the Filmmor Women's Film Festival.
