Antonis Remos Under Investigation for Tax Evasion and Money Laundering

The well-known singer Antonis Remos is being investigated for tax evasion and fictitious transactions amounting to 1.8 million euros, according to the conclusion of the Money Laundering Authority. Consequently, money laundering is identified as an accompanying offense.

Transactions Under Scrutiny

Sources from the Anti-Money Laundering Authority have disclosed a 20-page report detailing findings on singer Antonis Remos, including evidence and diagrams related to allegations of money laundering and tax evasion.

The Financial Police conducted searches at the homes of MEP Eva Kaili in Psychiko and her sister Madalena in Kifissia, which ended Wednesday.

A Belgian prosecutor was also present during the checks, executing a European order for an investigation by Belgian judicial authorities into Kaili, one the of main suspects in a corruption probe at the European Parliament.

European Parliament Deputy Eva Kaili has appealed to the European Parliament for violation of her parliamentary immunity, in a claim she was surveilled by intelligence services during her tenure on the PEGA committee (Committee of Inquiry to investigate the use of Pegasus and equivalent surveillance spyware), her lawyers Sven Mary and Michalis Dimitrakopoulos said on Monday.

MEP Eva Kaili, who has been indicted over her involvement in the "Qatargate" corruption scandal, has denied claims made in a Politico report that she is also facing another criminal investigation into fraudulent payments involving four former assistants in the European Parliament from 2014 to 2020.

Jailed Greek MEP Eva Kaili has appealed to the highest court of cassation in Belgium in a fresh attempt to secure release from pre-trial detention.

"We went to the supreme court, because in this way we manage to go from two months to one month in order to have the right to apply for a release from prison," her lawyer, Michalis Dimitrakopoulos, said in a written statement.

Former MEP Eva Kaili has reiterated her claim to innocence following Thursday's decision by the pre-trial council in Brussels that she will remain in custody over her involvement in the Qatargate scandal.

Eva Kaili will remain in custody for at least another month, after the decision by the pre-trial council to reject her request to be released from prison with a "bracelet".

Her hearing, which began at 12.05 Brussels time, lasted about an hour and a half.

"They are suffering in vain", comments the MEP after yesterday's decision to remain in prison.

Eva Kaili, a former vice president and member of the European Parliament who is facing corruption charges in Brussels over her role in what has been dubbed Qatargate, saw her daughter for the first time on Friday since she was remanded in custody last month.

The Greek politician's 22-month-old daughter was brought to the Haren prison in Brussels by her father, Alexandros Kailis.
