Bulgaria marked the Day of Remembrance of the victims of communist repression on Thursday with a commemorative service and a prayer in Sofia.

State Agency ''Archives'' signed a cooperation agreement with the State Agency ''Archives'' of the Republic of Macedonia, reported BGNES. 

Bulgaria has refused to pay over 23,490 US dollars for 23,500 pages of the so-called "trophy archives" - archive material taken to the USSR by the Soviet army at the end of the Second World War, the Bulgarian news website Dnevnik reported on Tuesday.

Bulgaria's government has removed Ivan Komitski from the post of Chair of the Archives State Agency (ASA).

The new director of the agency is Mihail Gruev, according to the government's press office.

In August 2013, the socialist-led government of Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski dismissed then-Chair of the ASA Martin Ivanov and appointed Ivan Komitski as his successor.

The Bulgarian government approved the resignation of the deputy chairperson of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) Vanya Stefanova.

The decision was taken at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on Friday, the government press service reports.
