Serbian candidate for the municipal mayor of Srebrenica Mladen Grujičić has convincing advantage over the current chief of the municipality Ćamil Duraković.

As a vote recount for the disputed mayoralty of Srebrenica began on Monday in Sarajevo, the Bosniak-led Party of Democratic Action, SDA called for a complete annulment of the local polls in the wartime flashpoint town.

BELGRADE - With almost 90 percent of votes counted, it is clear that the new mayor of Srebrenica will be Mladen Grujicic, RFE/RL reports.

As of October 7, his lead looked unassailable, with 3,957 votes against 1,645 cast for his opponent, Camil Durakovic. Durakovic was relying on the Bosniak expatriate vote, but even that will not be enough.

Confusion continues over who will become the next mayor of Srebrenica after special police in Bosnia's Serb-dominated entity, Republika Srpska, entered the premises of the local election commission on Wednesday, to oversee the recount.
