Amidst the ongoing peace negotiations to finally find an equitable and a fair solution to the age-old Cyprus problem, Turkish Cyprus has been facing a governmental crisis in recent months. The National Unity Party (UBP), the smaller partner in the coalition government, withdrew from the coalition led by the Republican Turkish Party (CTP) on April 2.

Turkish Cypriot parties set to form new coalition gov't

Two Turkish Cypriot political parties announced on April 15 that they are set to form a new coalition government, in the wake of the last government's collapse earlier this month.

National Unity Party (UBP) Chairman Hüseyin Özgürgün said the party decided unanimously to withdraw from the government due to its inability to address the country's economic problems.
