Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib revealed in an interview with CNN that Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah had agreed to a ceasefire just days before he was killed on September 27 in an Israeli attack in Beirut. Habib referred to a US and French proposal for a 21-day ceasefire, which, according to initial reports, was supported by the Israeli government.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati today called for a ceasefire with Israel after discussions with French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who is the first high-ranking Western diplomat to visit Beirut since the escalation of Israeli attacks against Lebanon.
