Turkey's Cinema Writers Association awards presented
The 48th Cinema Writers Association (S?YAD) Awards were presented on March 2 in Istanbul, at a ceremony marked by a protest against the demolition of the historic Emek Movie Theater in the Beyo?lu district.
'Winter Sleep' to be shown in Russia
Internationally acclaimed Turkish director Nuri Bilge Ceylan's film "K?? Uykusu" (Winter Sleep) is set to be screened in Russia at a festival bringing together the modern adaptations of writer Anton Chekhov's works.
During the event, members of the public will also be able to come together with foreign and Russian cinema artists.

Golden Ball Awards presented in Istanbul
The awards of the 22nd Golden Ball Film Festival, which was held between Sept. 14 and 19 last year in the southern province of Adana, were presented at a ceremony held during the weekend in Istanbul. The ceremony was postponed because of the country's current clashes with the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

Antalya film fest ends with awards, controversy
Directors Tolga Karaçelik and Mustafa Kara films were the big winners at the Golden Oranges in Antalya amid a new controversy over censorship Director Tolga Karaçelik's "Sarma??k" (Ivy) and Mustafa Kara's "Kalandar So?u?u" (Kalandar Cold) were the big winners of the 52nd Antalya Film Festival, picking up four awards for each.

'Sarma??k': The Rime of the Turkish Mariner
Verses from "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," English poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge's long poem of the late 18th century, divide director and writer Tolga Karaçelik's sophomore feature "Sarma??k" (Ivy) into three parts: Three distinctive and definitive parts charting a man's journey from possibilities of adventure to delirium.

'Abluka' wins big at Golden Boll
The 22nd Golden Boll Film Festival, organized in the southern Turkish province of Adana, ended on Sept. 19. The Best Film Award of the festival went to Emin Alper?s ?Abluka? (Frenzy).
The film also won the Best Director of Arts Award, Best Fiction, the Promising Actor Award and the Adana Audience Award.
