Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reaffirmed Türkiye's unwavering support for an "independent and sovereign" Kosovo during a visit to the Balkan nation on Saturday.

Religious leaders in mainly Muslim Kosovo on Wednesday signed a joint declaration against a new draft civil code that would allow same-sex marriages, and will be discussed in parliament on Thursday.

The religious leaders condemned an article which paves the way for a special law allowing same-sex civil unions.

Drilon Gashi, a young and unconventional cleric who served for two years as imam at the mosque in the village of Vitomirica in Kosovo's Peja/Pec municipality, said on Thursday that he has been dismissed by the Kosovo Islamic Community after he said he believed the theory of evolution developed by Charles Darwin.

Kosovo Justice Minister Abelard Tahiri on Friday signed a deal with the body representing the country's Muslim clerics, the BIK, on deradicalising prisoners charged or convicted of terrorism.

"We already have a proposal from the Islamic Community and we expect they will help in deradicalisation of those who have returned from the wars in Syria and Iraq," Tahiri said.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an inaugurated the restored Emin Pasha Mosque in Kosovo's city of Prizren via video link on March 16.
