A veteran translator has stirred controversy among literature experts by announcing that he has translated a biography of Milan Kundera from French into Turkish although he is not a francophone.

Veteran theater actor Ferhan Şensoy, who died on Aug. 31 after being hospitalized on July 2 due to internal bleeding, cardiovascular diseases and respiratory failure, was laid to rest yesterday.

The first ceremony for Şensoy was held at Ses Theater in Beyoğlu.

The UNESCO Headquarters in Paris is presenting an exhibition from Turkey titled "Safe Harbor Turkey - Restoring Hope," an interactive photography exhibition highlighting Turkey's historic humanitarian support and current response to the Syrian refugee crisis.
