Djokovic beats Del Potro to advance to Acapulco quarters

ACAPULCO - Serbia's top-ranked male tennis player Novak Djokovic is through to the quarter-finals of the Acapulco ATP tournament after beating Argentine Juan Martin Del Potro 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 on Thursday.

Djokovic will next face young Australian Nick Kyrgios.

Bulgaria's Dimitrov Goes Up ATP Tennis Ranking

Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria has climbed up the ATP ranking after grabbing the title at Brisbane International, the tennis association's website shows.

Dimitrov has moved up by two spots and is now No 15, trailing behind Nick Kyrgios (Australia), and getting closer to his best ever ranking when he made it into the world's Top 10 in 2014.

Top Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov has failed to defeat Andy Murray in an Australian Open match in Melbourne.

A dramatic game has ended 4:6, 7:6 (5), 3:6, 5:7.

Dimitrov was leading on his Scottish opponent 5:2 at a certain point of the last set, but after a series of mistakes Murray made a breakthrough that helped him regain his confidence.

Federer makes earliest Aussie Open exit in 14 years

Swiss legend Roger Federer said there was nothing to read into his earliest exit from the Australian Open in 14 years after he was dumped out by Italian Andreas Seppi Friday.
 
The 46th-ranked Seppi mastered Federer for the first time in 11 meetings, 6-4, 7-6 (7/5), 4-6, 7-6 (7/5) in almost three hours, to reach the fourth round for only the fourth time at the slams.
