The pair made up of Romanian player Monica Niculescu and Russian Ana Blinkova qualified on Thursday for the doubles semifinals of the Open de Limoges WTA 125 K tournament (France), with total prizes of 125,000 dollars, by defeating Sofia Sapatava (Georgia) and Emily Webley-Smith (United Kingdom), 6-2, 6-1. It took the main seeds only 46 minutes to win.
Tennis: Sorana Cirstea, through to quarterfinals of Open de Limoges tournament
Romanian tennis player Sorana Cirstea qualified on Thursday for the quarterfinals of the Open de Limoges WTA 125 K tournament, with total prize money worth 125,000 USD, after she scored 6-3, 6-3 against Spanish player Sara Sorribes Tormo. Cirstea (29, WTA's 74th) won in one hour and 19 minutes.
Djokovic, Wawrinka join Williams in 3rd round in Australia
Top-ranked Serena Williams fended off three set points before going on a 10-game roll to beat Vera Zvonareva 7-5, 6-0 and move into the third round of the Australian Open.
Men's No. 1 Novak Djokovic had an easier run, spending a minute less than Williams on Rod Laver Arena in his 84-minute, 6-0, 6-1, 6-4 win over No. 88-ranked Andrey Kuznetsov on Thursday.

Bulgaria's tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova started her participation in the China Open tennis tournament with a victory.
She beat the American Nicole Gibbs by 4:6, 6:2, 7:5, and qualified for the next round. There the Bulgarian tennis player will face Croatian Ajla Tomljanović.
Ana Ivanovic starts off with win at Cincinnati
CINCINNATI - Serbian tennis player Ana Ivanovic advanced to the second round of the WTA Premier event in Cincinnati after beating Romania's Sorana Cirstea 6-1, 7-5 in the opening round on Monday.
Ivanovic will next play the winner of the all-American clash between Nicole Gibbs and Christina McHale.
