Serbian President, Ruling Party Won Elections
A Serbian-based NGO observing the parliamentary elections, CESID, said that Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic won another five-year term in the first round, and that his Serbian Progressive Party, SNS, had won the most votes at the parliamentary elections and will again dominate the 250-seat parliament.

Putin's decree awards Order of Alexander Nevsky to Vucic
This was announced on the Kremlin website on Monday, January 7.
"Aleksandar Vucic awarded for his great personal contribution to the development of multilateral cooperation with the Russian Federation," a press release said.
This is a top Russian accolade, given to a Serb for the first time in nearly 100 years.

The detailed plan of the Russian leader's January visit is still being worked on, and according to the newspaper, there is a possibility that Putin will visit "one place outside Belgrade."

Serb to get top Russian decoration after almost 100 years
Belgrade-based daily Vecernje Novosti reported this on Monday.
According to the newspaper, "this most important accolade will be given to a Serb once again after almost 100 years - and that speaks the best about the stance of the Russian leader toward the head of our state."

WWI memorial plaque revealed in Nis
NIS - A memorial plaque marking the World War I centenary was revealed Monday in Nis on the building of Banovina, where 100 years ago today the then prime minister Nikola Pasic received the telegram with the declaration of war on Serbia.
