Wildfire Raging in Southern Bulgaria: 120 Decares of Forest is Burning
Some 120 decares of the forest are burning near the town of Vetren, Pazardzhik region in southern Bulgaria on August 22. According to initial reports, the fire started from the landfill, and from there on dry grass and shrubs it was transferred to the nearby forest and engulfed a large area of it, reports BNT.

Fire Station Closing Protest in Bulgaria's Pamporovo

Forest Fire at Kresna Gorge Continues to Rage, Residents Evacuated
The situation with the forest fire in the area of Kresna Gorge, South-West of Bulgaria, remains complicated in the late hours on 24th of August, reported BNT.
More than 6,000 decares of coniferous and broad-leaved trees have been destroyed by the fire. Residents of the villages of Oshtava and Senokos have been evacuated.

Two Men Broke Out of Sofia Jail
Two men – one sentenced murderer and one accused of robbery, car theft and illegal possession of firearms – broke out of the Central Sofia Jail on Wednesday.
The murderer, Nikolai Nikolov, a Bulgarian citizen, serving a 20-year sentence and the Guatemalan Jose Martinez, due to appear in court, are put on the national wanted list.
