Turkish midfielder Nuri Şahin has quit playing football to focus on a managerial role at the age of 33, he confirmed on Oct. 18. 

Turkish defender Ozan Kabak was named on Feb. 18 to the UEFA Champions League Fantasy Football Team of the Week.

Kabak, 20, made a standout performance for English Premier League team Liverpool during a 2-0 victory Tuesday against Germany's Leipzig.

Turkey's national football team has carried its hopes of claiming a berth in the next year's World Cup to the last two qualification games by beating Croatia 1-0 at home on Sept. 5.
