BELGRADE - Director of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) Marko Djuric said on Thursday that leader of the Citizens Initiative 'Freedom, Democracy, Justice' (SDP) Oliver Ivanovic is being held in detention for over six months now without proper trial and indictment, and added that this is an international legal and political scandal.

The Serbian government said that local politician Oliver Ivanovic, who has been in custody since January on suspicion of involvement in war crimes and murders in Kosovo, should be bailed.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The Citizens' Initiative SDP for Kosovo-Metohija, whose leader Oliver Ivanovic has now been in detention for six months without an indictment, has called on the Serbian government to demand from the international community that Ivanovic be released pending trial.

BELGRADE - The Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) voiced a request for leader of the Citizens Initiative 'Freedom, Democracy, Justice' Oliver Ivanovic from northern KiM to be immediately released from detention since the indictment against him has not been raised although six months have passed since his arrest.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The Pristina Court of Appeals denied the appeal filed by leader of the Citizens Initiative 'Freedom, Democracy, Justice' (GI SDP) Oliver Ivanovic concerning the decision on detention extension, GI SDP released on Thursday.

Appeal against detention of Ivanović rejected

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA -- The Court of Appeals in Priština has rejected an appeal filed against a decision to keep Oliver Ivanović in prison, his party, GI SDP, announced on Thursday.

Oliver Ivanovic, accused of war crimes against Kosovo Albanians and murders after the 1990s conflict, will be held in custody for two more months despite Belgrade’s protests.

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - The detention of Citizens' Initiative Serbia, Democracy, Justice leader Oliver Ivanovic has been extended by another two months, his attorney, lawyer Nebojsa Vlajic, said on Friday.

In a statement to Tanjug, Vlajic said that the decision to extend Ivanovic's detention was made by an Eulex pretrial judge of the Basic Court in Kosovska Mitrovica.
