June sees fivefold increase in forest fires in Türkiye

In June, record-breaking temperatures across various cities in Türkiye have led to a fivefold increase in forest fires compared to last year.

The General Directorate of Forestry emphasized the need for protective measures and cautioned against behaviors that would spark forest fires, such as stubble burning and improper disposal of cigarette butts.

Record-breaking heat expected for Türkiye

A prominent meteorological expert has issued a stark warning predicting a "meteorological disaster" this year, with the current sweltering heat to "get even more intense."

With temperatures already reaching 37 degrees Celsius in Istanbul, 38 in İzmir, 40 in Antalya and 35 in Ankara, Meteorology expert Orhan Şen said that temperatures will continue to rise.

Heavy rains cause flooding in Hatay

Heavy rains which started on May 24 morning, following warnings from the State Meteorological Service, have caused significant flooding in the southern province of Hatay.

The rainfall, varying in intensity across districts, was particularly severe in Antakya by evening, creating challenging conditions for drivers.
