Nationwide forest clean-up mobilizes thousands of volunteers
A large-scale forest clean-up campaign has taken place simultaneously across the country's 81 provinces on Oct. 20.
Coordinated by the youth and sports and agriculture and forestry ministries, the event gathered young volunteers to boost environmental awareness and promote the protection of forests.
Meriç river hosts Balkan Rowing Championship
Edirne has welcomed scores of rowers in the 2024 Balkan Rowing Championship, which took place between Sept. 14 and 15 on the course built on the Meriç River.
Following the European U23 Rowing Championship last week, this competition marks the second time this year that the Meriç River has hosted an international rowing event.

Turkish weightlifters claim gold at European Championships
Turkish weightlifters Cansu Bektaş and Gamze Altun clinched gold medals in the women's 45-kilogram category on the first day of the European Weightlifting Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.
Bektaş lifted 75 kilograms in the snatch, securing Turkey's first gold medal of the championship. Meanwhile, Altun lifted 92 kilograms in the clean and jerk to claim her gold medal.
