Paterson

In the early 1950s, Greek lawyer Konstantinos Methenitis went to London seeking shipowner clients to draft insurance contracts for their vessels. In the closed clubs of the City where the shipping community gathered, it was customary for women to sit on one side and men on the other to discuss their business matters.

The city of Paterson in the U.S. state of New Jersey appointed its first Turkish-American and Muslim police chief on Feb. 4. 

Ibrahim "Mike" Baycora was sworn in with his left hand on a copy of the Quran as Paterson's 17th police chief during a ceremony at city hall. He has been serving at the city's police department for more than three decades.
