Election Authority to Appeal Against Court Ruling on Voting Machine Introduction in Bulgaria

Sofia. At a meeting today, the Central Election Commission (CEC) has decided to appeal against the Sofia Administrative Court's ruling over the introduction of voting machines, CEC Spokesman Aleksandar Andreev told Focus News Agency. The commission's arguments will be known when the appeal is filed, which will be done today, he said.

New Republic Wins Case Against Fuel Cartel

The members of the political council of New Republic Petar Slavov and Martin Dimitrov have won the case against the refusal of the Finance Ministry to announce which firms own the tax warehouses for fuels and what their capacity is, announced the press centre of the coalition.

The Supreme Administrative Court has ruled that the minister must disclose the information within 14 days.

Reformist Bloc deputies Grozdan Karadjov, Petar Slavov and Ivan Ivanov have submitted a draft bill for amendments and supplements to the Electoral Code.

Bulgarian MPs Vote to Scrap VAT on Foods Donated Near Expiry Date

Bulgarian lawmakers have approved on a first reading legal changes that allow to boost donation of foods.

MPs have decided VAT will not be levied on food products donated 30 or less days before their expiry date.

The amendment, if approved further, will only be in force when the value of foods given out does not exceed 0.5% of the respective legal person's turnover.

Bulgarian MPs Reject Proposal to Renew Construction of South Stream

Bulgarian MPs rejected on Wednesday a proposal submitted by nationalist opposition Ataka party to renew activities related to the construction of the South Stream natural gas pipeline.

A total of 109 MPs participated in the voting, with 27 of them voting in favour, 17 being against, while 65 lawmakers abstained, private bTV station informs.
