AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency celebrates 131 since establishment on 27 March.   Since 1889 until now, AGERPRES has broadcast millions of news items, documentary materials and photographs.   After 131 years since its first news item, AGERPRES has received congratulations messages from partner media organisations and news agencies.

AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency Director General Alexandru Giboi was elected Secretary General of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA), on Friday, during the EANA conference held in Warsaw, Poland.

The conference of the European Alliance of News Agencies (EANA) is taking place for the first time in Bucharest, between 25-27 April, with the AGERPRES Romanian National News Agency being the co-organiser of the meeting.

Ingrid Brodnig, Austria's digital champion and author of the book Lies on the Internet, argued that blatantly false news were just the tip of the ice-berg of a "new ecosystem", whose dimensions were for instance revealed at the Constitutional change referendum in Italy last year, where five of the ten most successful media stories in the campaign proved "completely made up".
