ECHR admits application against Slovenia over judicial recusal
Ljubljana – The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has admitted an application against Slovenia over an alleged violation of the right to a fair hearing. The case concerns Constitutional Court judge Rok Čeferin’s failure to exclude himself from a case, the STA has learnt from the State Attorney’s Office.
Janša calls on MEP in ‘t Veld to resign as chair of EP group
Brussels – Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša has called on Dutch MEP Sophie in ‘t Veld (Renew/D66) to resign as chair of the European Parliament’s democracy monitoring group. The move comes after Friday’s incident during the group’s public debate and censorship allegations.

Ljubljana – The Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts (SAZU) has presented a statement on reconciliation, underlining that Slovenians must reach an consensus about basic values on which the nations is founded. The past must be confronted because clarification is the only way to catharsis and reconciliation, the statement says.
Report: Marina Portorož sold to Japanese buyer
Portorož – Spa operator Terme Čatež confirmed on Friday that it had sold Marina Portorož but would not disclose the buyer. It also said the contract contained suspensive conditions. Newspapers Delo and Primorske Novice reported of the sale earlier today, saying the buyer came from Japan.

EMA Starts Testing Sputnik V Efficacy, Safety as Russia Seeks Acceptance
The European Medicines Agency (EMA) on Thursday (4 March) began a rolling review of Russia's Sputnik V vaccine in a first step towards granting the approval of the jab across the EU.
The agency's human medicines committee (CHMP) said it would review Sputnik V, a COVID-19 vaccine developed by Russia's Gamaleya national centre of epidemiology and microbiology.
Hungary to return over 400 smuggled artifacts to Turkey
Following six years of meticulous researches conducted by experts at the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry, Hungary will return over 400 smuggled historical artifacts to Turkey next week, daily Hürriyet reported on Feb. 21.
"Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will receive 412 artifacts from his Hungarian counterpart and bring them back to the country on Feb. 25," the daily said.
