Rescuers brace for more rain as relentless storms flood Northeast, Vermont

(AP) — Swift water rescue teams and local officials across Vermont braced for more precipitation and flooding Tuesday after persistent heavy rains drenched the state and other parts of the Northeast, unleashing fast-moving waters that washed out roads, trapped residents in their homes and disrupted travel.

One person was killed in New York as she tried to leave her inundated house.

Dozens of foreign tourists on lockdown at campsite in Drepano, northern Greece

Dozens of foreign tourists are in quarantine at a campsite in Drepano, in the northern Greek prefecture of Thesprotia, as part of measures to ward against the spread of the coronavirus.  

The campsite hosts 41 tourists from different countries in Europe who started a tour of Greece in December in their caravans and now find themselves stranded in Epirus amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The parents of Bakari Henderson, the young American beaten to death in Greece, Jill and Phil spoke to Proto Thema about their ordeal and thank the Greek community and authorities for the support they showed. The 22-year-old died last month on the island of Zakynthos after a mob chased him out of a bar and surrounded him on the street.
