Tsitsipas through to third round after Kohlschreiber withdraws

Sixth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas has advanced to the third round of the Australian Open after his German opponent Philipp Kohlschreiber withdrew due to injury, organizers said on Wednesday.
ATP Finals champion Tsitsipas, 21, will meet either Canadian 32nd seed Milos Raonic or Cristian Garin of Chile in the third round, having never faced either opponent before.

Troicki through to Sydney semis as Kohlschreiber retires

SYDNEY - Serbian tennis player Viktor Troicki is through to the semi-finals of the Sydney ATP tournament after German Philipp Kohlschreiber retired from their match on Thursday due to injury.

In a bid to reach another final, title defender Troicki will face Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.

Troicki off to winning start in Sydney

SYDNEY - Serbia's Viktor Troicki has got off to a successful start to his title defence campaign at the Sydney ATP tournament after beating Italian Paolo Lorenzi 6-3, 6-4 in the second round on Wednesday.

Troicki, who won after 90 minutes of play, will next face German Philipp Kohlschreiber.

Tennis: Dimitrov, Qureshi Reach 1/4 Finals in Paris Doubles

Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi of Pakistan have made it to the quarterfinals of the doubles tournament in Paris.

They have defeated the UK's Jamie Murray and Brazil's Bruno Soares, the best-performing duo this season.

The game ended 6:4, 6:3, 10:6.

Troicki knocked out of Kremlin Cup by world no. 123 Medvedev

MOSCOW - Serbian tennis player Viktor Troicki has failed to reach the quarter-finals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow after losing 3-6, 6-3, 6-1 to world number 123 Daniil Medvedev of Russia on Thursday.

In yet another display of unpredictability, fourth-seeded Troicki was defeated by the little-known Russian despite having a one-set advantage at one point in the match.

Lajovic beats Tipsarevic in Moscow

MOSCOW - Serbian tennis player Dusan Lajovic beat compatriot Janko Tipsarevic 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 in the opening round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow.

Lajovic won his first-ever encounter with Tipsarevic after 100 minutes of play.

In a bid to reach the quarter-finals, Lajovic will face third-seeded Philipp Kohlschreiber of Germany.

The prize money in Moscow is 717,250 dollars.

Jelena Jankovic ousted in doubles

NEW YORK - Serbia's Jelena Jankovic and Czech Republic's Klara Koukalova lost to the Indo-Zimbabwean pair Sania Mirza/Cara Black 6-3, 6-2 at the US Open early on Tuesday CET

Jankovic was ousted in the singles competition earlier, after losing to Belinda Bencic from Switzerland 7(6)-6, 6-3 in the 4th round on Sunday.

Djokovic eases past Kohlschreiber into US Open quarter-final

NEW YORK - World No. 1 Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarter-final of US Open after defeating Germany's Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-1, 7-5, 6-4 late on Monday CET.

In a routine match that lasted a little over two hours, Djokovic notched up his fifth win over Kohlschreiber and reached his 22nd straight Grand Slam quarter-final.
