Ankara summons German ambassador over 'misbehavior' against Turkish deputy parliament speaker

The Turkish Foreign Ministry summoned German Ambassador to Turkey Martin Erdmann on Dec. 7 to convey Ankara's reaction after airport police in Cologne temporarily held Turkish Parliament Deputy Speaker Ayşenur Bahçekapılı due to a problem with her passport, diplomatic sources have told the Hürriyet Daily News. 

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan slammed Germany after the incident.

Shift to Turkish Lira accelerates across institutions to shore up struggling currency

A number of institutions announced measures to prop up the Turkish Lira in a bid to support the struggling currency on Dec. 7, following President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call to keep savings and make transactions in liras rather than foreign currencies.

Extradition cases of Turkish officers head to Supreme Court

Three out of the eightTurkish officers who sought asylum in Greece after July's botched coup in Turkey will be extradited, a Greek court ruled on Tuesday. The decision, which was appealed by all three, follows the court's rejection of Ankara's extradition request for three other Turkish servicemen on Monday, which was also appealed by a prosecutor.

Turkey's privatization authority shifts to Turkish Lira in tenders

The Turkish Privatization Authority (ÖİB) announced on Dec. 6 that privatization tenders will henceforth be held on a Turkish Lira basis, in order to support the lira amid its sharp deterioration in value. 

The ÖİB said all payments would be gradually shifted to the lira for all ongoing tenders.
