Russia deploys presence in Syria with deployment of S-400 military system

Russian President Vladimir Putin has given Turkey a “stark warning” by deploying its most advanced air defense system to the Hmeymim Air Base in Syria following Turkey’s downing of the Russian Su-24 jet on Monday. A Russian source said that Russia is exploring the possibility of sending another 10-12 air jets to the base for further reinforcement.

Escalation in Russia-Turkey relations – Obama backs Turkey

The conflict between Russia and Turkey is escalated after a Russian jet was shot down by Turkey in the Turkey-Syria borders with Russian President Vladimir Putin stating that Russia has being “stabbed in the back” and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan saying the Russian aircraft violated Turkish airspace.

Tsipras Visiting Turkey for 1st Time

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras is on a working visit to Turkey for the first time since taking office in January.

The trip comes amid tensions between Ankara and Athens over the migrant crisis, with Aegean Sea waters dividing the two countries claiming the lives of dozens of migrants trying to cross into Europe.

PM A. Tsipras in Turkey for footy match and other meetings

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras will meet with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglou in Istanbul. Tsipras will leave for the neighboring county at 8.30 p.m. on Tuesday to attend the football match between the national teams of Greece and Turkey.

On Wednesday, the two men will discuss the refugee crisis and the safety conditions in Europe as well as the bilateral relations.

Majority of Turkey's Voters 'Prefer Parliamentary System' - Poll

More than half of Turkish voters have voiced preference for the current political system in the country to be preserved, an Ipsos poll suggests.

The survey was carried out on November 02, a day after the early election in which the Justice and Development Party (AKP) regained the majority it had lost in the June 07 vote.
